Update

Thank you all so much for sharing in our grief and for voicing your support. We are so grateful for every text, message, and post. We are surrounded by love, physically and virtually. Both of our families are here, along with dear friends who have left their jobs and homes to stay with us and remind us that joy and laughter are still possible in the midst of tragedy. The staff here at the hospital has also been very thoughtful and accommodating. They recognize what we are going through, and some have gone above and beyond what we expected in taking care of difficult details and understanding the slew of visitors and family that have been camped out in the waiting room all night.

Melissa is still in labor, but seems pretty comfortable with the help of an epidural. The doctors do not want to do a c-section unless Melissa's health is at risk, so we are content to wait this out. In some ways it is nice to have this immediate task...it is keeping the gravity of what has happened at somewhat of a distance.

Thank you again for all of your love and prayers.

  1. We'll be praying for an easy labor and delivery today, and that you will rest easy in the comfort of friends and family. We will pray for wisdom for the doctors and nurses, and thank God for their compassion.

  2. Corey and Melissa,

My heart goes out to the two of you for today I know will forever be a broken day. Baby Colton is happy in the arms of the Lord and what a blessing that is that he is not suffering of is not in any pain. My heart breaks for you all and I just wanted to say what outstanding parents the two of you have been to Colton. He was very blessed with the two of you!
God bless you and hold you today and everyday!-Kala Scheidt

  5. Melissa and Corey my family is heartbroken with your news and you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for letting us share your journey through this beautiful tribute. Your son was indeed blessed with earthly parents that are true testimonies of the faith and grace from his Heavenly Father. Soon and very soon we are going to see the King and sweet Colton will be waiting for your glorious reunion. Until then, may you rest in God's peace and love.
